Most current surveillance cameras have one big drawback: they’re virtually blind in low-lighting or harsh weather conditions such as fog, rain or snow.
The European-funded I-ALLOW project sought a way to overcome that major stumble block towards a surveillance system that’s really on guard 24/7. It brought together an international consortium of imaging partners – one of which was imec.
They came up with a cutting-edge technological solution: a gated CMOS sensor with a hyperspectral filter that combines RGB and NIR vision in all circumstances.
